Just Want to Try Out the New Features?

If you just want to try out the new features before deciding upgrade or not, you can still install v4.0 to your PC or handheld. You can run it for 30 days without any other limitations. But because v4.0 requires that your existing databases be converted to v4.0's format, here are a few things you need to know before hand:

For Windows Version

When v4.0 opens an old *.amw file, it will ask you if you want to proceed with the conversion. If you said yes, it'll make a copy of the file and append the filename with a suffix _v310, e.g., MyMoney_v310.amw. Should you decide not to upgrade, you can uninstall v4.0 from your PC and reinstall v3.8 back (which can be downloaded from here). Your original data are still in MyMoney_v310.amw.

For Palm OS Version

Before running v4.0, first you need to run the upgrade utility (AMUpgrade.prc) to convert old databases to new format. You should make a backup copy for all your databases before converting. There are many ways for making backups, one of them is look for all your databases in HotSync's data folder in your desktop computer (e.g. C:\Handspring\your_name\Backup), and copy them to another place. Should you decide not to upgrade later, you can delete v4.0 from your handheld and reinstall v3.8 back (which can be downloaded from here). Then, install the backup copies to your handheld.
